In the NSW Workers Compensation System
Approved Rehabilitation and Treatment Providers
Approved providers assist injured workers in their recovery and
return to work.
Our Role
An approved provider enhances the injury management process,
assists with medical treatment, occupational rehabilitation and
claims management.
Our providers give advice on treatment requirements. We also provide
treatments and assessments of an injured worker’s functional
ability.
We Collaborate
We adopt a coordinated approach with all parties involved in
the injured worker’s case. A provider will work in collaboration
with the injured worker, their employer, the insurer and a nominated
treating doctor.
Our Providers
Our approved providers communicate with the injured workers insurer,
treating doctor and employer to provide information the treatment
required and how the treatment will assist their return to work.
Intervention
When approved, the insurer will pay for the cost of interventions
that are determined reasonably necessary. The treatments must be
considered:
- Appropriate for the injury and relieve the effects of the
injury
- Effective in promoting recovery
- Outcome based, demonstrating the results to be achieved from
the intervention
- Cost effective
- The best option compared to other forms of treatment available
- Accepted by the professional body in achieving optimum recovery
and return to work.
The Treatment Plan
Treatment plans are the means by which we inform the insurer
of the outcomes that are anticipated to be achieved. This ensures
effective monitoring of treatment and control of costs.
Accreditation
WorkCover NSW accredits providers and monitors their performance.
To ensure quality service delivery, providers must have appropriate
qualifications, skills, knowledge and experience to deliver services
defined by
service codes. Visit the WorkCover
website for more information.
